Additional Information

In Androscoggin County, 14.6% of high school students reported that they have been drunk and/or high at school in the past year; 20% have been offered, sold, or given illegal drugs on school property in the past year; and 20% of high school students has used marijuana in the past 30-days*.

In addition, there is growing concern over marijuana use in vape/e-cigarette products that makes marijuana use virtually indiscernible from nicotine vaping. Given this concern, and the increasing availability of marijuana in Maine after adult-use legalization, we plan to discuss how to identify the signs and symptoms a student or staff member might exhibit if under the influence of drugs, including marijuana, at school. We will also examine how to identify impairment, as well as other pertinent information at this one-day Drug Impairment Detection training.
