DISTRICT 2 (CUMBERLAND COUNTY) School Nurse Training Opportunity

(The class on 1/16/18 filled up so this is a second opportunity for Cumberland County school nurses)

Be prepared for the unimaginable. Professionals from Maine Medical Trauma Department are offering a 2 hour training opportunity, Stop the Bleed, to train school nurses how to stop bleeding, apply a tourniquet and other life saving techniques in emergency and mass casualty situations.

Stop the Bleed- is a free training program created by the US Department of Homeland Security in conjunction with FEMA and various other agencies, to train bystanders in life-saving techniques.  With the rise of mass shootings and active shooter situations in schools, churches, public meeting places, and even office buildings, it is vital that more and more individuals are trained in the basics of life-saving techniques, such as how to properly use a tourniquet and use a hemostatic agent such as QuikClot.  Everything that can be done to save a person’s life is done in the First Five Minutes!  What would you do if you were faced with the unimaginable?
