Building on the successes over the last year and a half, fending off cuts to Medicaid in schools and achieving a ten-year reauthorization of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the NURSE Act<https://higherlogicdownload.s3.amazonaws.com/NASN/3870c72d-fff9-4ed7-833f-215de278d256/UploadedImages/PDFs/Advocacy/2018_School_Nurse_Grant.pdf> has been re-introduced in both the House and Senate.

The NURSE Act (Nurses for Under Resourced Schools Everywhere Act) S 2532/HR 5251 was introduced on March 12, 2018 by Senator Jon Tester and Representative Dina Titus. The NURSE Act would give grants from the Department of Education to increase the number of registered school nurses in Title I schools where there does not already exist a school nurse.

NASN's Virtual Hill Day will create momentum and show support for this important legislation to help children be safe, healthy and ready to learn. Your participation in NASN's first Virtual Hill Day will show the ground swell of support the NURSE Act has across the country. Please tweet, email and call your Member of Congress and Senators using the samples messages provided by NASN (or feel free to use your own) June 12 - 14!
