School Nurse Advocacy Worked!!!

Posted about 3 years ago

Dear NASN Members,

I am writing this morning to draw your attention to the email account you have on file with NASN. Friday afternoon I emailed about the great news of President Biden's signing the $125B American Rescue Plan that gives federal support for schools. One clearly stated acceptable use of this funding is the hiring of school nurses to support the health and well-being of students. The success of this legislation would not have been possible without your advocacy during #VirtualHillDay2021, your social media engagement, and the addition of your signature to the petition to fund 10,000 school nurses. You showed up and took a seat at the table.

During COVID-19 you have made it clear that a school nurse is essential for students to be healthy, safe, and ready to learn. There is more work to do moving forward to make sure that state and local education agencies leverage this funding to support student health. NASN will be working with affiliates to determine how we can best support state and local advocacy as budgets for this funding are developed. Check your email for more details.

I am proud of you. Now is the time for us to work together to set the table for student health.
