Editor's Note:
"A recent study conducted in caregivers of young children with asthma receiving care at an urban, community-based clinic uncovered shockingly low rates of correct use of metered-dose inhalers (MDIs). In fact, only 1 of 169 adults correctly completed all 10 steps of administering an inhaled medicine with a spacer device, as assessed by researchers from The Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). Medscape spoke with Marina Reznik, MD, MS, lead author of the study and an attending physician in the Department of Pediatrics at CHAM, about the implications of this study."
