CHIP Action Alert

On Thursday, January 18, 2018 the House of Representatives will vote on a six-year extension of CHIP, the Children's Health Insurance Program as part of a Continuing Resolution (CR) that will fund the government for another 28 days averting a government shutdown.

It has been over 100 days since the authorization for CHIP has expired.  It's long past time for Congress to pass reauthorization of CHIP.  CHIP is one of only a few programs that enjoys bi-partisan support. Congress has never let CHIP funding lapse like this.

CHIP provides health coverage for almost nine million kids-including many with special needs and chronic conditions like cancer, diabetes and asthma. Now the future of that coverage is under immediate threat by the inability of Congress to provide long-term funding for CHIP.  Anything less than fully funding CHIP not only puts kids and families at risk but it's also fiscally irresponsible. It doesn't give states the certainty they need to fund health coverage for children and adolescents and  to plan their budgets as states head into their new legislative sessions.

Please call or email your Representative and tell them to vote for "Yes' for CHIP.
